It's Finally Here!
Nov 13, 2023Hello BJJ Families,
I've been trying to find a way to harness the power of online Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu access for some time. As an educator and a coach, we always need more time together on the mats. Well, now we have another tool to help solve that problem. When you sign up via www.bwbjj.com, you automatically get full access to the online training videos. They cover everything from warm-up drills to tying your belt and a fully accessible library of Jiu-Jitsu techniques.
I look forward to adding to these videos all the time to really make this training library a resource for all students and their families.
As an educator who started in the bricks-and-mortar classroom, one thing became evident over the years. There usually needs to be more time to go into detail regarding the skills. And, in a class of more than just 3-5 people, there are always students who find themselves behind other students and unable to see the skill be performed well.
Online education, though no substitute for genuine hands-on practice when it comes to BJJ, offers several solutions to the larger classroom teaching that is usually only available once weekly.
1. Online education fixes that! It puts the viewer/learner in the front row without any distractions.
2. Online Education is available when the student is ready to learn, not only when the class is offered.
3. It allows the student to rewind the skill over and over. They can watch it and practice it with a partner whenever they like! The skill is available 24/7 and 365 days per year.
4. It works even when on vacation or unable to attend the academy.
Studies have shown that when cognitive online education is combined with practice in person, the acquisition and retention of skills are increased tremendously.
I'm excited that we can now see the results of this offering. The only catch? The student has to do it! There isn't any magic potion, there isn't any get-good quick tricks. It's time in and time on mats. Practicing after learning and then learning from our mistakes and trying again and again. Enjoy the online library of BJJ techniques, and please give me your feedback. I welcome constructive criticism, and I enjoy positive feedback when it's genuine. It helps motivate me to keep doing what I'm doing, and together, my prayer is that we all make the world a better place to live.
Most Sincerely,
Coach Roy
